Scholarship: £12,940 stipend + UK/EU fees

Applications are invited for a three-year (36 months) PhD scholarship in the School of Computing, Communications & Electronics, in the Faculty of Technology at the University of Plymouth, commencing on 1st October 2008 or soon thereafter.

This post is part of a GWR-funded research project in collaboration with Systematic Innovation Ltd. and the University of Bath. The project is aimed at the development of tools and methods to assist next generation engineers and scientists to deliver breakthrough design solutions. The underlying theme of the project is computer-aided innovation. The project will build upon the world’s biggest study of creativity and innovation.

The PhD project will involve research into the emerging areas of complex systems theory, bio-technology and nano-engineering, followed by development of these findings into a more universal innovation knowledge framework. The project will involve extensive use of the developed tools, methods and strategies to create novel solutions to real world and industry problems.
