International Student Opportunities at Bangor

Applicants wishing to apply for Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught programmes may be eligible for the ‘International Scholarship’ This is awarded as a tuition fee reduction of up to £1500 for each academic year of study and is given on the basis of academic excellence. There are a number of scholarships available for the 2010/11 academic year.

Scholarship Regulations


  • Applicants must be resident overseas for fees purposes
  • Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must firstly submit an application to study at Bangor University. Completed scholarship applications must be sent directly to the International Office by scan, fax or post. Applications should be received at the university no later than 30th of June 2010. Any applications received after the 30th of June, 2010 will not be considered
  • Correct scholarship applications must be used (2010 Entry). All scholarship applications must be fully completed. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be sent back to you
  • The International Office will reduce or totally withhold an award if the holder has not made distinct progress in his/her studies as certified by tutors and as shown in the examinations of the University, or if his/her conduct and diligence has not been satisfactory
  • All scholarships shall be reviewed on an annual basis
  • If you are currently a student at Bangor University, please note that you will not be eligible to apply for the International Scholarship.
  • Students who will be enrolled at ELCOS should apply for the International Scholarship before arriving at Bangor to study the English Language Course at ELCOS
  • International Scholarships are awarded only to students who have not been offered any other awards, scholarships or bursaries from Bangor University, its Colleges or Schools

January 2010 MBA Scholarships - University of Westminster

Alumni Scholarships

These scholarships are gathered from income earned by the alumni affinity services. They are available to you if you are a graduate of any University of Westminster undergraduate degree and plan to proceed to a full-time Masters degree within the University.

Amount: 2,000 tuition fee waivers.

Westminster Business School (WBS) Part-Time Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by Westminster Business School (WBS) to you if you are academically exceptional.

Amount: 50 per cent tuition fee waivers.

Eligibility: You must hold an offer for any part-time Masters degree, excluding the MBA, within Westminster Business School.

Criteria: Academic excellence, career progression and financial need.

Deadline: 1 December 2009.

Westminster International Scholarships

These generous awards are aimed at full funding if you are from a developing country and will study a full-time Masters degree at the University. Particular preference will be given to you if you can demonstrate how the knowledge you acquire from your studies will aid the development of your own country.

Amount: Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.

Eligibility: You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree.

Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.

EBS London International Scholarship - European Business School London

To celebrate the international spirit of EBS London, we offer 3 annual scholarship prizes for our BA (Hons) International Business and BA (Hons) International Events Management degree courses.

One full scholarship and two half scholarships are awarded through an annual competition, in which candidates select and answer a question from a choice of 5. The deadline for submitting the 8 page research-based scholarship entries is at the end of May each year. Successful candidates are invited to our campus to present and defend their work.

The awards are available to any candidate who has been made an offer to join either of the BA programmes, for either the September 2010 or February 2011 intakes.

The Abbey scholarships are awarded to students from Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela. Several scholarships are available.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to applicants who have an excellent academic record and who is a citizen or resident (for a minimum of three years) of either Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay or Venezuela and who are applying for admission onto the Full-time MBA or MBA in International Business in September 2010. An award may be withdrawn if a student fails to meet the academic standards set by the University.

Although applications for the scholarship should be made before 31 May 2010, the scholarship will only be awarded to an applicant who has firmly accepted their offer through payment of the deposit.

Applicants who hold full sponsorships or who are entitled to fee omission are not eligible for the scholarship.

If an applicant is successful in being awarded the scholarship, but subsequently declines their offer of admission on the MBA programme, the award of the scholarship will be withdrawn and awarded to another applicant.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit a 1,000 word essay, explaining why they feel they should be awarded the scholarship, and how the scholarship will benefit them. This essay should accompany their application for the MBA programme.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the benefits to the student. The decision will be made by a committee consisting of Directors and key staff from Admissions.

If you have already sent your application, you are welcome to apply separately. Please enclose your full name and contact details as stated in your programme application. Separate scholarship applications without these details will not be considered.

Northumbria International Scholarships 2009/10 and 2010/11 - Northumbria University

We are delighted to announce details of the range of scholarships available in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 academic years. In the current academic year more than 500 students from over 20 different countries have been awarded a Northumbria University International Scholarship.

Most courses at Northumbria University have an intake in September, but a number also have an intake in January or later in the year. Scholarships are available for both intakes.

In most cases the amount of scholarship given will be in the range GBP 500-1000. If you are awarded a scholarship, your tuition fees in your first academic year of study will be reduced by the relevant amount. Scholarships cannot be extended for subsequent years of study.

Eligibility and Selection

You will be eligible for consideration if you have overseas (non-EU) fees status, and don't currently reside within the UK (if you are unsure please click here to find out your status - site will open in a new window). Applicants for all levels of full-time study at Northumbria’s Newcastle campuses will be considered (NB this does not apply to English Pre-Sessional Programmes).

Selection is based primarily on outstanding academic achievement, although, other factors may be taken into account, such as your level of English proficiency and any professional or non-academic achievements. Financial need cannot and will not be taken into consideration. Scholarships are not awarded automatically.

When the University receives your application form for one of our programmes, you will automatically be assessed for scholarship eligibility. There is no separate scholarship application to complete so it is important that you submit all relevant information with your initial application. You will usually be notified of any award at the same time that you are offered a place at the University.

Postgraduate Scholarships Available for 2010 Entrants

The University of Edinburgh will be offering 30 International Master's Scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year.

10 of these Scholarships ("Homecoming Scotland" Scholarships) have a value of £5,000 while 20 fall under the Global Master's Scholarships Scheme and have a value of £3,000 each.

The deadline for receipt of applications for both Scholarships is the 1st April 2010 and applicants shoud complete an online application in order to be considered for these awards.

Edinburgh Global Master's Scholarships


The University of Edinburgh will offer 20 Master's scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the 2010-2011 academic session.

Each scholarship will have a value of £3,000 which will be tenable for one academic year.

The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate Master's programme of study at the University of Edinburgh from the following countries:

United Kingdom - Vice Chancellor's Scholarship 2010 (De Montfort University)

For courses starting in September 2010 (or between September 2010 and June 2011 for MPhil/PhD research degrees), De Montfort University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip Tasker, is delighted to offer £500 scholarships to overseas students.

The £500 scholarships will be paid towards the full tuition fees of overseas-status students from any country in the world who wish to study the following types of courses at De Montfort University, Leicester:

- Full-time undergraduate degrees (BA/BSc/LLB) in any subject
- Full-time Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters courses (PGDip/MA/MSc/MBA/LLM) in any subject
- Full-time MPhil/PhD research degrees in any subject

The £500 scholarship will be deducted from the full tuition fee at the beginning of the first (or only) year of study.

Students progressing to DMU through one of our established progression schemes or collaborative partnerships may also be eligible for these scholarships.

There is no application process for the scholarship, but you need to apply for and be accepted on to a course at De Montfort University. If you acheive the required grades, you will be automatically awarded the scholarship.

Deadline for applications
If you wish to be considered for a Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship 2010, De Montfort University must have received your application form by 21st August 2010. No applications received after this date will be considered under any circumstances.

Allocation process
As applications are received, entry qualifications will be assessed and a scholarship will be awarded if the entry criteria are met. All successful applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will be notified by email and letter (standard mail) by 21st September 2010. The £500 scholarships will be deducted from the full tuition fee of successful applicants when you arrive to enrol at DMU.

The rules
• Both self-funding and sponsored students are eligible to apply.
• No cash alternatives will be offered and the scholarship cannot be transferred to any other course at DMU or to any other nominated recipient.
• Valid only for September 2010 entry (or between September 2010 and June 2011 for research applicants) – scholarships cannot be deferred with an application until September 2011 or later
• For overseas students who are also entitled to the £500 discount for early payment of their fees in full at enrolment, a total of £1000 will be deducted from the full tuition fee at enrolment.
• For applicants who also qualify for the £500 Alumni Scholarship, a further £500 will be deducted from the tuition fee at enrolment.
• If an applicant is allocated a scholarship but then withdraws their application or does not enrol onto the course for any reason, the scholarship is forfeited.
• The University reserves the right to withdraw scholarships, or not allocate scholarships, at any point before they are allocated.

University of Minnesota - International Reciprocal Student Exchange Program (IRSEP)

Eligibility
Open to University of Minnesota-Twin Cities students enrolled as degree-seeking undergraduates. Students must have completed at least one year of study at the University of Minnesota prior to participation. Students must be willing to make a three year commitment which includes returning to the Twin Cities the year after the study abroad experience in order to recruit, select and orient the next year's nominee. Finalist receives an interview with Learning Abroad Center staff and IRSEP students as part of the selection process.

IRSEP Exchanges
International Reciprocal Student Exchange Program (IRSEP) offers a full scholarship to study abroad in six different countries. University of Otago International Masters Award - New Zealand

Value: An emolument of $13,000 plus tuition fees at the International student level and costs incurred in the production of two hard bound theses.
Tenure: Tenure is for one year, or until the thesis is submitted, whichever period is the shorter.

Summary: This Award is offered by the University of Otago for Masters thesis study in any subject.

Comments: Postgraduate Awards are awarded by the University Council, on the recommendation of the Senate, to International candidates in the first year of their thesis research for a Master's degree.

Tenure of a Postgraduate Award by a Master's degree student is for one year, or until the thesis is submitted, (whichever period is the shorter.) Students must be in the first year of their thesis research to be eligible for an Award. A shorter period of tenure shall be awarded in cases where four months or more of registration as a candidate for the degree have already been completed at the time of the award. Overseas tenure of a Postgraduate Award is not permitted.

Eligibility Information: Postgraduate Awards are available only to students seeking to obtain their first Masters qualification. The University of Otago International Postgraduate Awards are open to students from all countries, with the exception of Australia, France and Germany (who are eligible for the Domestic Scholarships and Awards). Confirmation of the Award is dependent on approval of the application to register as a Masters' candidate and completion of the enrolment procedure.
